Among the Superior National Forest are winding roads of beauty in the autumn months. Lined with maples and laden with gorgeous hues of reds, oranges, and yellows, this spectacular view is among our favorites in Minnesota. You can drive on miles and miles of backroads filled with never-ending fall colors.

We try to avoid the bustling traffic that this season brings up north, so choosing week days to get some good photos in is imperative. We also like to venture off into the woods and find trails and areas more known by the locals than those widely advertised online. Our favorite pitstops are the fire towers, providing a 360 degree palette of color and Lake Superior. They can be a feat to climb, and precariously sway on a windy day, but the reward is well worth it.
